Tyga Wants You to Know He Had a Reason to Contact a 14-Year-Old

It hasn’t been a great week for Tyga. The rapper was accused of hollering at a 14-year-old girl and will likely face a lawsuit from high-powered attorney Gloria Allred, who seems to have some spare time despite her full-time gig of taking down Bill Cosby.

Allred and Molly O’Malia, the teen who says the “Rack City” rapper tried to start an inappropriate relationship with her on Instagram, held a news conference on Monday accusing Tyga of repeatedly messaging the teen and pressuring her to FaceTime.

“The truth is that Tyga contacted me first. He direct messaged me on Instagram. I knew who he was but I was surprised that he was contacting me,” a tearful O’Malia said in a statement. “I thought that it could possibly be about my music, but he did not mention that in his initial communication with me. I thought that was strange, but I was thinking he would bring that up in his next message to me. However, he didn’t mention it in the next message.”

“I began to feel uncomfortable when he asked me to FaceTime with him,” she continued. “He asked me to FaceTime three times, but I did not do it. Because of my discomfort with why he wanted to communicate with me I quickly stopped responding to him. It’s crazy how so much can come out of nothing.”

Tyga, however, admits that he reached out to O’Malia but insists their communication was strictly professional. An attorney for the rapper says his client’s manager encouraged him to contact O’Malia for the purpose of signing her to his imprint, Last Kings Records. As for the FaceTiming, he said it was more for the purpose of an audition and that his producers were with him when he asked her to jump on a video call. According to TMZ, O’Malia also told Tyga she was 17.

The girl’s mother, Anne Lowry O’Malia, made a statement of her own holding OK! magazine, who first reported on the illicit relationship, responsible for “falsely [insinuating] that there was an inappropriate sexually suggestive relationship going on between Tyga and Molly.”

Wait — falsely insinuating? Isn’t the alleged “inappropriate sexually suggestive relationship” between Tyga and Molly the whole problem here? We’re not sure what Mrs. O’Malia is trying to say, but Allred stuck to the script, reiterating that Molly’s mother “feels that it is completely inappropriate for an adult male to communicate with her 14-year-old daughter, ask for her phone number and ask when she is coming to L.A.”
