The Kardashians Are Helping Kanye West With His Album
“He really respects our opinions,” Khloé Kardashian says.
Kanye West is turning to the Kardashians for help on his long-awaited SWISH album, due out next month. According to Khloé Kardashian, Yeezus has elicited the family’s input.
Even though they’re not musicians (Kim Kardashian released a single five years ago, if that counts), the Kardashian are marketing mavens, fans of West and most importantly, family. “He really cares about our opinions, which I find even cooler,” Khloé told Cosmopolitan. “Because we’re not artists, obviously, but he respects what we say so much. He is so passionate. He’s like, every bit the meaning of an artist. He’s so into his craft, and just to see him at work and see how much he respects our opinions, all of us sisters, he wants us all in the studio at different times. Thank god we all live a block away from each other.”
Khloé, who’s currently promoting her new late night show, has heard Ye’s entire album. “His studio is at his house, so we go to his house all the time,” she explained. “I’ve heard the songs, I just don’t know which ones came out.”
One thing that the 31-year-old reality star doesn’t quite understand is West’s G.O.O.D. Fridays. “So I’m confused, is this not an album? We’re just giving away music?” she questioned. “He has so many songs that we — I act like I’m recording them — that he can’t figure out what he wants to put on his album. And they’re all genuinely terrific songs. So maybe that’s why he’s doing that.”
In the four years since West started dating Kim, he’s grown close to her whole family. West tapped Kylie Jenner to model in his fashion shows, and every once in a while he appears on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. He might even pop up on Khloé’s new show.
“He’s potential,” added Khloé. “I want him and Kim to come on together, and that’s all depending on how Kim is feeling. It’d be closer to the end of the show, if so. She just had a baby.”
